Association of Division III Independents
Names 2004 All-Independent Cross Country Teams

KANSAS CITY, MO.--- Jenny Jorgensen and Kiran Moorty of Colorado College headline the first All-Independent Cross Country teams named today by the Association of Division III Independents. Jorgensen, a senior from Edina, MN, was named the female runner of the year, while Moorty, a sophomore from Seaside, CO, was named the male runner of the year.

Nebraska Wesleyan landed three runners on the men’s first team, including freshman Chris Dunker, who was named the rookie runner of the year. Coach Ted Bulling was named the men’s coach of the year. The Prairie Wolves finished tied for 11th at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship.

Coach Ted Castaneda of Colorado College was named the women’s coach of the year. The Tigers finished 18th at the NCAA national meet. Freshman Amber Brandenburger of Nebraska Wesleyan was named the rookie runner of the year.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 17 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in seven sports in 2004-05. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. For the first time, the Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce all-Independent teams at the conclusion of 10 other sports this year.
