Spurgeon earns AD3I men’s basketball Player of the Week award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan University senior guard Jake Spurgeon (Gretna, Neb.) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. Spurgeon averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as NWU went 1-1 for the week. In a win over Midland Lutheran, he led the team with a season-high 19 points and nine rebounds. He hit 5-of-7 3-point shots, which was the most 3-pointers for a NWU player this season. Spurgeon also averaged 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals as he shot 7-of-13 (53.8%) from beyond the arc.

The Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week awards program begins on August 31, 2009, and is based on nominations from the organization's member schools.
